Story... exhibition, guest artist Mardi Wood at High Desert Gallery.
Event Description: High Desert Gallery is excited to announce guest artist, Mardi Wood, February 17 to April 11, 2012. “A Story..”, exhibition is featured at High Desert Gallery, 10 NW Minnesota Avenue at The Oxford Hotel in downtown Bend, Oregon.
Mardi Wood's ceramic work is the result of a process developed over many years of making. Evidence of the artist's hands can be felt in her paper-thin cups and bowls. The balance and subtle weight of each piece have been created by fine adjustments made at every step of construction. Inspired by her roots in the Northwest and her family home on the Columbia River, Woods' vessels are painted with layers of glaze and oxides built up during repeated firings.
Woods now lives in Northern California, and has a second residence in Italy. Images of Maremmana cattle, drawn from the Italian landscape, often appear in her recent work.

Painter, a group exhibition at High Desert Gallery |

Come celebrate with us as we host “Painter”, an group exhibition showcasing our fine art painters. The exhibition runs from March 1 through April 3, at High Desert Gallery's downtown Bend, Oregon art gallery located at 10 NW Minnesota Avenue at The Oxford.The Artist Preview Day opens the exhibition on Thursday March 1, from 10am to 6pm and provides an opportunity for visitors and collectors to see the artist's work prior to the opening reception to be held during First Friday Gallery Walk, March 3 from 5–9 pm. Come see our new artist's work and enjoy refreshments. High Desert Gallery is open daily 10-6, Sun 11-5.
