COVA - National Tourism Week Open House Kick-Off
The Central Oregon Visitors Association (COVA) is proud to salute May 5-13, 2012 as National Tourism Week with an Open House kick-off at the Central Oregon Welcome Center, Friday May 4, 2012, from 2pm – 6pm. The COVA office and Welcome Center is located in the Old Mill District at 661 SW Powerhouse Drive, Suite 1301.
As the official Regional Destination Marketing Organization for Central Oregon, COVA will release its 2012 Annual Report on the Visitor Industry during the Open House. COVA’s annual report is an industry update and includes the most current regional and statewide visitor research and detailed information on COVA’s tourism destination marketing programs.
Members of the Central Oregon Visitors Association are invited to attend to showcase their products with demonstrations and promotional items to the membership and general public attending COVA’s Open House. The COVA staff will be available to share information on Central Oregon’s Visitor industry, our member businesses and visitor attractions in the region.
National Tourism Week is the first full week of May and has received national recognition since 1984. Localized events help cities, states and travel businesses champion the power of travel and the economic impacts of tourism. National Tourism Week was established when the U.S.
Congress passed a joint resolution in 1983 designating the week to be celebrated in May in a White House ceremony.
The Central Oregon Visitors Association (COVA) has been the non-profit tourism Destination Marketing Association serving Central Oregon since 1971. Supported by nearly 500 member businesses and operating with an annual budget of $1.8 million. COVA manages tourism advertising, marketing, promotion, public relations, industry relations, special event management and a regional Housing Bureau. COVA also operates the Central Oregon Welcome Center seven days per week, located in the heart of the region in the historic Old Mill District of Bend, Oregon.
